Life on Board
Gala I is a little bit Italian fashion house, a little bit island retreat.
She is a 28-metre Benetti, designed by Carlo Galeazzi and refitted in 2019. Inside, there is white marble everywhere, softened by bespoke furniture with Fendi, Missoni and Roberto Cavalli touches. Light, glamorous and calm.
She is a full-displacement yacht, cruising gently at around 11 knots. So choose a route that rewards a slower pace: the western Cyclades.
Leave Athens and head to Kythnos. Swim at Kolona, where a thin sandbar joins two bays. Soak in the natural hot springs at Loutra as the sun goes down.
Continue to Serifos. A wild, golden island with a white Chora high on the hill. Hike up for the sunset, then come back to a candlelit dinner on deck.
Then Sifnos, the food island. Visit Kastro, a medieval village on a cliff edge. Try revithada, slow-baked chickpeas from a clay pot.
Return north with a lazy stop at Kea.
On board, the sundeck is the place to be. A mosaic jacuzzi sits at its centre, with sunbeds, a large BBQ and a bar. There are several alfresco dining areas, seating up to twelve.
In the evenings, an outdoor cinema with a widescreen TV turns the deck into a private movie night under the stars.
The full-beam master is on the main deck, with its own sauna. Two VIP suites and two more doubles complete the layout, all en-suite.
Stabilisers work at anchor and underway.
For the water, there are Seabobs, a jet ski, paddleboards, water skis, a wakeboard, towables and snorkelling gear. A brand-new Williams 425 jet tender runs guests ashore.
Glamour on board. Simplicity ashore.
