Corfu · Lefkada · Kefalonia · Zakynthos
Green hills that run down to turquoise water, Venetian towns and short, easy passages. The Ionian is the calmest sailing area in Greece and a favourite for families and relaxed yacht charters.
The afternoon breeze builds gently from the north-west and fades by evening. Anchorages are close together, so you can visit a new island every day and still spend most of it in the water.

Famous for the white cliffs of Porto Katsiki and Egremni on its west coast. On the sheltered east side, Meganisi and the islets around Nidri offer calm, pine-fringed bays for swimming and paddleboarding.
The largest Ionian island. Anchor off pretty Fiskardo and Assos, look down on Myrtos beach from the sea, and take a trip inland to the underground Melissani lake.
Dramatic limestone cliffs, sea caves and the famous Shipwreck Beach, best admired from the water. The Blue Caves on the northern tip are perfect for a snorkel stop from the tender.

When to Go
The Ionian season runs from May to October, with the warmest water in August and September. Winds are lighter and more predictable than in the Aegean, which makes the Ionian a great choice for families and first charters.
Board in Lefkada and cross to Meganisi for a calm first night.
Quiet bays, village tavernas and the mountains of the mainland behind you.
The home of Odysseus. Evening in the harbour of Kioni.
Fiskardo for lunch, then a swim stop below Assos.
An uninhabited island with a wild, clear bay all to yourselves.
Swim off the famous private island, then evening in Nidri.
A short final passage back to base.
